My understanding is that Unique passives does not stack since they are, ofcourse unique.
When it comes to cooldown reduction this doesn't seems to be applyed even though it is a unique bonus on items.

Could someone explain this to me?

Right hand rule is that unique passives of same item do not stack.

Unique bonus means that you can not get this bonus if you buy another one of the same item.

This means if an item has a unique passive with 15% cooldown reduction, the cooldown reduction you get from THIS item does not stack.

Ah.. That explains it then. Still seems weird though :P

But still note that cooldown reduction has it's limits. I think it was 30%, but not sure :s


EDIT: it's 40%. That's max CDR you can have.

* CDR cap is 40%

Cooldown reduction caps at 40%.

40% CDR is the limit for all champions.
