As we continue to build League of Legends with our global community, we ask all community members to agree to the expectations outlined here. This Code of Conduct for League of Legends is supplemental to the Riot Games Terms of Service, which you must agree to before being allowed into any Riot game.
League of Legends is a thrilling competitive experience when everyone shows up to win. To have meaningful stakes in every match, conditions must be fair for all players. We believe that fairness means games are free from cheating, misuse of game systems, and all forms of harassment and behavior that prevent any player from playing their best.
Showing up to win doesn't mean restricting yourself to playing what's meta.Trying something new is a valid way to play—as long as you're still supporting your team and making an effort to win. Keep in mind this extends to your teammates: Even if you disagree with their playstyle, give them a chance and focus on winning as a team.
In cases where a player consistently fails to uphold this commitment to competition, we'll take action to protect the rest of the community and encourage that player to reform their behavior. As such, our warnings and penalties aim to address the specifics of disruptive behavior rather than being overly punitive or restrictive.
League of Legends at its core is a team game. Finding success as a team means supporting teammates in a way that empowers them to play their best. This means cultivating an environment that's respectful, fair, and committed to victory, even when things take a tough turn. Harping on mistakes, arguing over how teammates should play, or sabotaging the game once you've given up aren't acceptable behaviors.
You deserve to be able to play each match free from disruptive in-game behavior, harassment, and abuse. So do the other players in the game. We are one team, and we only win if we win together.
Riot has a responsibility to provide you with tools to protect yourself, your game experience, and your account. In turn, we empower you to make responsible decisions about how you interact with other players and third parties.
All of League's communication systems can be enabled or disabled as needed. Harassment and abuse should be reported through in-game systems or player support not only to address the specific behavior you encountered, but to improve our ability to automatically identify and prevent that behavior in the future.
We urge you to stay vigilant in what account information you choose to share with third party sites and apps.
To foster an environment that lives up to the values above, we expect every member of the community to commit to the following behaviors:
Comms Abuse
Offensive language, hateful speech, sexual harassment
Cheating
Third party exploits, hacks, bug abuse, account sharing, account boosting
Offensive or Inappropriate Names
Player names, account names, group names
Intent to Lose - Leaving the Game/AFK
Disconnecting, AFKing, idling, refusing to play
Intent to Lose - In Game Behaviors
Intentional feeding, in-game harassment, sabotage
Threats
Out-of-game physical harm, emotional abuse, doxxing, bullying
If you violate the expectations described here, we may restrict your privileges or access to features in our games. Restrictions serve to shield the community from future disruption, and provide an opportunity to reflect on the behavior that led to the restriction. We strive to provide a path to reform, but not at the expense of protecting the rest of the community. We also strive to restrict based on the disruption caused, and to avoid action that is needlessly punitive or harsh.
Consequences for violating the Code of Conduct can include (but are not limited to):
